Hostel Happenings
As Winter Sports edge closer to ending, and with just six weeks until the end of Term 3, the boys need to be continually encouraged to keep striving towards reaching their academic goals.
Some senior boys need to pack up their PlayStations and be reminded to study hard – the time is . . . now. Please help us to endorse this message from home: short-term pain equates to long-term gain.
Congratulations to Max Turnbull (10A) and Finlay Williamson (1st XI), who both competed in Football finals at Forsyth Barr Stadium this week.
We are excited to combine forces and bus down to the turf next Tuesday evening, 18 August, for the 1st XI Hockey final against John McGlashan. If you're in Dunedin, please come and join the sideline support crew for what is sure to be an epic battle of skills!
Thank you to all the parents who promptly collected their sons when they were sick recently. We greatly appreciate you doing this to help us lessen the spread of infections.
Despite a lot of talk about who was going to get up and watch the All Blacks vs Sharks game at 5.00am on Wednesday, just two boys joined Matron. Highly commended are Oliver Murray (left) and Fraser Gill (right), who were the only boys who fronted up to offer their support. Congratulations, boys – you have passed Patriotism with Excellence!
Men of the Week
Jack Nowell conducts himself with integrity. He maintains excellent manners and demonstrates high levels of cooperation, consideration and resilience.
Jack MacAskill brings mature, positive energy. He is always happy to help, uses his initiative and is consistently courteous.
Our exciting hostel redevelopment work is continuing, as the old sick bay seems to transform daily before our eyes. It is being converted into a new office for the Director of Boarding, a new staffroom area and a new sick bay with wheelchair access.
