Hostel Happenings
Spring has been typically unpredictable, delivering a mixture of warmer days, laced with chilly winds and sprinklings of snow showers. This is all part of the Dunedin intrigue and certainly keeps us on our toes.
It has been encouraging to see boys wearing their warm BackRoad jerseys, and most are learning to make better clothing choices by dressing appropriately for the weather.
Tournament Week saw the return of some very fatigued boys, many of whom had battled tirelessly to achieve some well-earned successes.However, our focus now needs to be solely on reaching our academic goals, with just two more weeks left in Term 3. School exams are beginning on Wednesday, 16 September.
So, the message is loud and clear: keep working hard, boys . . . the end is in sight.
I've been impressed by the Year 9 and 10 boys, who have been especially good during their Prep time this week.
Seniors, the clock is ticking, as once you return for Term 4, there are only three full weeks remaining.

A reminder that the hostel is closed for Labour Weekend: Saturday, 24 October, Sunday, 25 October and Monday, 26 October.

Thanks for always being so cheerful and kind towards other boys. Your smile helps to brighten up the hostel.
A special mention to all the boys who played in the Otago U17 Metro rugby team, which defeated the older Otago U18 Metro side 37–26 in their Southern Region match on 8 September. This marks the first time the U17s have beaten the U18s since 2022.
Parents, please be mindful when making appointments for your sons and try to schedule these for after school whenever possible. Thank you.
Boys returning from weekend leave on buses on Monday mornings that arrive in Dunedin at midday are reminded that this is not a get out of school for the whole day pass. The expectation is that you phone to be collected, return to the hostel and quickly change into your uniform so that you can return to school for the afternoon periods.
