More Fantastic Results in our Latest CAA Corequisite Assessments
The latest Common Assessment Activity (CAA) results are in, and our learners have officially outperformed national standards across Reading, Writing, and Numeracy. Their dedication, resilience, and hard work continue to set them apart.
Of our Year 10 students who sat the Reading CAA assessment this time around, 88% passed, compared to the national pass rate of 60.5%. For the Year 10 Writing CAA, 84% of our students passed, well clear of the national pass rate of 56.8%. We do not enter any of year 10 students in the mid year numeracy, these will be completed in the second round of CAA assessments in September.
For our Year 11 cohort, building on CAAs sat both last year in Year 10 and in this latest round—87.8% have now passed the Reading CAA, and 88.3% have now passed the Writing CAA, both well above national pass rates. Additionally, 85.1% of our Year 11s have now passed the Numeracy CAA, which is significantly higher than the national average of 51.7%.

What's next for students?
For any students who didn't quite pass this round, please know that feedback is now available for download through the NZQA portal and we recommend students download and review this information. Our teachers are here to support students with this.
It is important to understand that students currently have two ways to meet their NCEA literacy and numeracy requirements, one is through the CAA assessments referenced above and the other is by achieving specific, approved achievementacross various NCEA subjects. However, while this additional pathway remains available for 2026, the Common Assessment Activities (CAA) will become the sole pathway from 2027 onwards.
A further opportunity to sit these CAA assessments will be held in Septemberduring our school exam sessions. Information about these exams will be shared next week.
