Big Sing 26
A fantastic result for our boys at The Big Sing.
After a massive day at the town hall competing as one of 22 choirs, the OBHS choir, 'Mandate', were rewarded at the gala concert with the trophy for best choral art song, singing 'Tell my Father', a poignant piece by Frank Wildhorn that relays a message from a fallen son to his father. OBHS had not held the trophy since 2014, and we remain the only boys choir to have won it.
Nathan Lau was elated to have the honour of receiving it on behalf of the choir. It is a fantastic result for the boys, and a great note to finish on for the ten year 13 students in their final town hall performance.
And a big thank you to choir director John Buchanan MNZM and accompanist Sharon McLennan for their expertise and effort with our choirs. We look forward to newcomers joining the choir, building on this success, and carrying on the tradition.
