On Tuesday, we enjoyed a very successful interschool sports exchange against Southland Boys' High School. Congratulations to the Southland Boys' 1st XV for their impressive team performance, which was rewarded with a 33-10 win. Well done to the OBHS 1st XV for our two well-executed tries. The support echoed from the grandstand made for an exhilarating atmosphere. Thanks to all those who encouraged and embraced the challenge; witnessing the passionate support provided a tremendous sense of unity.

On Wednesday afternoon, the First XI Hockey team, starring 14 hostel boys, showcased their superior ball skills and dominated field play with some well-executed passes, resulting in a convincing 5-1 victory for OBHS.

Junior Man of the Week: Jiwon Moon, who has joined us all the way from China. Jiwon has adjusted admirably to the contrast of life within School House. After a tentative start, we are proud of how well Jiwon is now managing and getting involved. Keep it up!

Senior Man of the Week: Hunter Knox, for his leadership, good manners, and thoughtfulness. Hunter encouraged younger boarders to give up their seats in the medical centre this week for a woman carrying a young child. This was a valuable life lesson for everyone in the room. Inspirational!

The builders are now busy working on the Thomson toilets, and progress is very visible as the old prep room transforms into an impressive new space. The black joinery has modernised the outside of the room and looks really sharp.

On Wednesday, Matron took 12 boys to the Maori Hill Clinic for their follow-up H.P.V. vaccinations. If you are uncertain whether your son needs any further vaccines, please phone the Maori Hill Nurses on 03 464 0044 and ask for Grace, or check in with your own G.P. Thank you.

Unfortunately, we have had some boys with school sores this term. These present themselves as red spots on the skin with distinctive yellow centres. If you notice anything suspicious on your son, please get this checked out, as it requires immediate antibiotic treatment and is very contagious.

The hostel white van has been out of action for a couple of days this week while getting the door repaired and some maintenance attended to.

The boys will need to bring everything home at the end of the term, so please make sure they have enough bags with them. It is a good chance to get their underblankets and duvet covers washed at home. Please double-check that all belongings are named. It is difficult in the laundry for clothing and towels to be put into the correct spaces when they are either unnamed or have a name vaguely written on them in faded, worn-out felt pen. Thank you.

With just three weeks remaining this term and the holidays starting on July 3, now could be a good time to book any personal appointments that your son may require, such as haircuts, eye tests, or driving tests.

Thank you to our kitchen staff, Donna, Nicola, and Glen, for keeping everyone well-fed with a variety of delicious meals. We may not say it often enough, but we do appreciate all your hard work.
