Fantastic Fencing Results for Mikah
Year 12 student Mikah Machado, has been having an exceptional season fencing.
This past weekend, Mikah competed in the South Island Open Fencing Competition. As an "Open" event, it attracted competitors of all ages from across both the North and South Islands. This meant Mikah was stepping up to face much older and more experienced fencers, including some of New Zealand’s top competitors.
Rising to the challenge, Mikah fenced brilliantly and achieved a third-equal placing. This is a massive accomplishment, especially when competing at the open level.
This latest result highlights a very successful year of steady improvement, with his 2026 highlights including:
3rd Place at the Dunedin High School Competition (end of last term)
10th Place at the Under-17 Nationals
3rd Equal at the South Island Open
Mikah is incredibly passionate about his sport and is staying focused as he prepares for his upcoming competitions this season. Well done Mikah, we are very proud of you!
