9Ts Week at Camp

9T were lucky enough to have a week at the Mount Aspiring Lodge in their last weeks of school.

With no rain all week the program allowed for kayaking, a two night tramping camp out, orienteering and heaps of camp craft skill sessions. Dam building, campfire cooking, swimming and kayaking all had an element of competition. But mostly it was about having fun, learning to get on with others and a week away from the city and the screens.

Nightly reflection diary writing time allowed students to get a head start collecting material for the Inspired by Aspiring English competition next year, and to keep memories to look back on. Students past and present usually recall their time at Mt Aspiring as a time when they made new friends, tried new activities and visited special places.

The lads will likely treasure their memories of time spent in the beautiful East branch of the Matukituki River on the edge of the Mt Aspiring National Park.

What a great trip! The hardest part was deciding who would be the “Man of the Camp” there were indeed, 23 superb candidates! He whetu koe!

Thank you Mr Ryan Golder, Charlie Scott, Jason Hodge and Ms Casey for running a great week. Thank you Mr Richard Roe for making the camp happen!
