Chess Power Checkmate Challenge

Seven of the top chess players at Otago Boys’ played in the Chess Power Checkmate Challenge which was a National online chess competition.

The competition was played over five rounds and there were forty player entries in the high school division from a range of high schools mainly situated on the North Island. 

Otago Boys’ were the overall winners and have therefore qualified for the National Finals to be played later on this year. 

Our top performers were Noah Oseki who came 2nd overall, Aaron Nelson (3rd) Nathaniel Miller-Coote (4th) and Richard Wang (5th). Good results were also achieved by Ethan Maw, Nicholas Wright and Jared Lau.
