OBHS B Water Polo take first place

On the last Friday of Term 1, the OBHS B Water Polo team played in the final of the Dunedin Schools' Tournament at Moana Pool.

Playing against a very able team from Kavanagh College, it was a nail biting match to watch.

By the third quarter, OBHS found themselves 3-2 down and had to dig deep to change their fortunes. Some extremely capable coaching by Eddie Wright, Year 12, and an injection of self-belief and perseverance saw the Otago Boys' side rally to secure a 7-6 win in the very last seconds of the game.

This side has developed well this season and the school thanks Mr Paul Wagner our community coach for all the early mornings he has given up to coach and upskill the boys.

Not all members of the B team were able to play in the final, although they all contributed to getting the team there. This gave some C team players the chance to play up for the B team and there was some impressive play by these younger students.

We look forward to defending the title in Term 4.
