Hello Parents and Caregivers,

The last two weeks have been productive with learning and extra activities that have kept our boys engaged, motivated, and experiencing new things.  Our hostel boys have done well this week with the Kings High School Inter-school with a number of our boys in different sports doing well.  Next week a number of our boys will be involved in the Southland Boy's Inter-school where we again look forward to more success from our hostel boys representing our school values and colors.  Overall our boys are committed to their learning, warm with full tummies in the hostel and happy to be playing weekend sport and activities where all are showing enjoyment and great success.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: There is no school on Friday 4th June or Monday 7th June making Queens Birthday weekend four days. All hostel boys should be off-site by Thursday 3rd June after school. All gear including bedding can be stored in the McCaw room and boys can take just what they need for the long weekend.

Highlanders Game

Our boys had a great time at the Super Rugby Game between the Highlanders vs the Queensland Reds on Friday 14th May. Some entertaining rugby was viewed and a great win for the Highlanders to set their Trans Tasman Competition on a positive note. Well done to Hunter Burgess on his contribution to the pre-match entertainment with his Bagpipe Group.

Zorbing

Our boys enjoyed Zorbing on Sunday 16th May at the Edgar Centre with a lot of smiles and energy. Some great collisions were had, safely and with a lot of laughter.

Pink Shirt Day

At School House we do not accept bullying and do our best to educate our boys on this issue and how we can continue to be better each day. Recently we supported the nationwide initiative of Pink Shirt Day on Friday 21st May – standing together to stop bullying. We changed things up for one of our usual prep nights where we gathered as a group of brothers to discuss the importance of this topic. Our activity involved making our own individual wristbands made of pink to acknowledge Pink Shirt Day and also navy blue and white intertwining our OBHS colors to demonstrate we support this important cause. Added to this our Prefects wore Pink Ties to school alongside their uniforms to show solidarity - We stand together as one!

Year 13 Formal

Our Year 13’s enjoyed a fantastic night at their Formal on Saturday 22nd May. Great to host our Year 13 parents for nibbles before taking the special photos of their sons with their partners. Thank you to our awesome Head Chef Donna King and her fantastic kitchen team for the pre-nibbles.
