Welcome to our Week 4 Newsletter

Good afternoon Hostel parents, hope everyone is keeping safe during these lockdown times. Thank you again to all our parents who made the long journey to quickly pick up with your sons and return them home with you. Although very short notice it ran very smoothly thanks to everyone's cooperation.

Vaccination

This is to inform you that now 12-15 year old children can be vaccinated. We at School House Hostel are in the process of coordinating a mass vaccination for our boys in the hostel once we return back to school and onsite as a group. This of course is optional and not compulsory, however if you would like us to support your son/s in this then let us know by emailing [email protected]

If you have the opportunity, you can also do this while the boys are with you now, before returning back to hostel.

Man of the Week

Week 3

Congratulations to Year 13 Deputy Head of Hostel Jak Stevenson for going above and beyond in not only helping around the hostel with the boys but also helping the Housemasters. A great example of leadership. Well done Jak.

Finn was calm and collective under pressure making vital breaks at key moments in the game and nailing his goal kicks in the final. Well done Finn.

ACTIVITIES

Our hostel enjoyed attending the start of the NPC Representative Rugby Season with Otago vs Southland at Forsyth Barr Stadium. With many of our boys hailing from both of these two regions there was alot of excitement and anticipation for this match. Awesome to see some of our Southland hostel boys supporting Marty Banks - Southland captain kicking a penalty to even the scores with three minutes to go. Added to this, Housemaster Christian Lio-Willie was making his debut for Otago. It was his decisive break through the middle of the field and long run that led to the winning score in the last two minutes of the game! Overall a great night had by all watching some great rugby.

Hostel Lockdown Life

Our boys onsite who were unable to return home have been working hard in their learning and engagement in their lessons each week day with the support of our staff.  They have been well cared for and  kept busy with onsite activities such as game nights and fitness sessions to keep that balance in their life.  Thanks to Weekend Matron Claudia Wollaston and Housemaster Jess Drumm for leading our boys and staff today in a workout.
