2026 - Tohu Teina mō ngā Tikanga / Junior Values Badges
"It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up." — Vince Lombardi
What a fantastic way to end Term 3! At this week’s final Junior Assembly for the term, we celebrated our core value of Perseverance by awarding badges to 236 out of 336 students (70.24%). It was inspiring to see so many boys recognised for demonstrating resilience, putting in consistent effort, and refusing to give up when faced with academic or personal challenges.
This term, 123 Year 10 students and 113 Year 9 students earned their badge, giving Year 10 the win for Term 3!
Thank you to our teaching staff for their dedication in recognising these efforts through positive postcards and house points. These small actions make a big difference, strengthening relationships and encouraging our students to uphold the principles of Above the Hoops. Our boys are seeing that grit and hard work pay off with tangible recognition.
The badge criteria can be found in the student's homework diary.

Badges are a visible sign of your contribution to the school community. They look sharp on your tie or shirt collar. Wear them with pride over the holidays, and let them be a reminder of the resilience and determination you have shown throughout the term.
Next term’s value is Excellence. What does excellence mean when it comes to learning?
It’s about finishing the year on a high and striving to do your absolute best in everything you do. It’s about taking pride in the fine details, setting high standards for yourself, and aiming for quality. So for Term 4, boys:
Aim for quality - whether it's an assignment, exam prep, or end-of-year project.
Pay attention to detail: the small things make a big difference, in the classroom, on the stage, in sport, and in your uniform.
Take pride in your work: let your effort reflect the highest standard of character.
Let’s come back in Term 4 ready to finish the year with excellence!
Perseverance Badges were awarded to the following boys. If you missed assembly, please pick up your badge from Mr Sullivan at his office at 3:05pm or after our first junior assembly next term. Similarly, if you feel an error was made, please speak to Mr Sullivan.
