Important Bus Service Update
There are a number of changes to Otago Regional Council (ORC) bus services taking effect from 1 October 2026, including an important change for students who currently use the Route 39 service between Otago Boys’ High School and Green Island.
Route 39 is being retired and replaced by a new Route 72 – Abbotsford Loop service.
For OBHS students, the bus stop location will also change. From 1 October, students using the new Route 72 service will board on Stuart Street, rather than the current stop on Arthur Street. ORC advises that the new Route 72 will provide school-day services past Otago Boys’ High School, with stops for the schools located on Kaikorai Valley Road, Stuart Street and York Place.
We encourage students and families who use this service to familiarise themselves with the new route, stop location and timetable before the changes come into effect.
