Welcome to the Otago Boys' High School Website
Boys reaching their potential in life and learning
3 February
2012 is underway and most classes have had their first taste of academic life for the year. There is still a bit of fine tuning to be done to ensure all the class sizes are manageable but this should be resolved over the next few days. A larger than usual senior school is a feature this year with the theatre bursting at the seams to contain just these students.
The Year 10 Mt Aspiring trips begin their rotation with the first class heading off on the 10th February. Meantime the new Year 9 students are spending a day at the Otakou Marae as part of their introduction to the School.
A fundraising evening for the rugby boys travelling to Samoa at the ensd of the term is being held on Wedneday 8th February. Renowned local cook Judith Cullen, and old boy and owner of Harbour Fish, Aaron Cooper are combining their talents to present a "Summer Cooking Made Easy' demonstration. The venue is the Otago Boys' High School Auditorium with the doors opening at 7-00pm and the demonstration starting at 7-30pm. Raffles will also be run during the evening.
Tickets which cost just $20-00 are available at the School office or by contacting Carla Laughton at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

The past few days have seen the boys involved in various activities including a day at Warrington Beach, indoor games at the Edgar Centre, and trips to the movies and the Orokounui Sanctuary. Our current Year 10 students had a day where they were introduced to the requirements of NCEA - a precursor to next year while the year 9's enjoyed a day of activities around school. An important part of each day has been a community clean-up in the environs close to the school and a large amount of litter was found and removed.
Back to normal on Monday, and into uniform, as we count down the final few days of the term. Our Junior prize-giving is being held on Wednesday morning , 7th December- a departure from the previous afternoon function. Parents are invited to attend this event which begins at 10-30am.
